To watch movies from your tablet, you’ll use the Google Play Films app, which lets you watch movies online or download them to your tablet to watch them whenever you want, even without a connection. We explain in detail how to turn your device into a real home cinema!
Download and install Google Play Films
Almost all Android tablets already have the default app. Check to see if the app is installed on your device: you’ll recognize the logo representing a red film, like the one in the image on the left. If you can’t find it, download Google Play Films and install the program.
Look for a movie
Open the app on your tablet. On the main screen, you can see the most popular movies of the moment. By swiping right, you can navigate through the app categories and if you swipe left, you can browse the Top Selling section, with the best-selling movies, and New Releases.
If you click on the magnifying glass at the top right, you can search for movies by title, typing their name. Click on the name of the movie that appears in the suggestions to access it or tap Entry to access the search page.
Select the film
Once you’ve found the movie you want, tap the image for more details. In the new window, you’ll find information about it: synopsis, trailer, note and user reviews.
At the top right, you find the different viewing modes available: whether you can rent or buy the movie (download it) or do both.
The length of time a film is rented varies from title to title and cannot be changed. To find out how many days you have to see the movie, scroll from the left to the end, where you’ll find this information. You choose what you want. - Buy or rent the movie
Once you’ve found the movie you want to see, press one of the two red buttons in the top right corner to buy or rent it. The price varies from film to film and depends on the quality: a film in HD will be more expensive than one in SD (standard quality). It will also be more expensive to buy than to rent.
If you already have a credit or debit card associated with your Google Play account, you won’t have to do anything except decide if you want to buy or rent the movie and then select its quality. In the window that appears, tap Buy to complete the purchase
